Introducing Zech Walters...

We would like to introduce Zech Walters to the South West Music team. Zech will be leading the River Rock Band Program and teaching guitar and song-writing.

Zech has been playing the guitar for sixteen years and has twenty-two years’ experience as a singer-songwriter. He is passionate about mentoring emerging musicians and sharing his experience in the recording music industry from session recording to production. His focus is on teaching creative song writing and rock band music business skills.

Zech’s approach is centered on encouraging and motivating students to find their purpose with music and to guide students to see music as a refuge and build a supportive community, so students have a place to belong and share creative ideas.

Zech believes failure is an important of the creative process and life. “I am a life-long learner and know I will learn as much from my student community as they do from me.” He aims to lead by example, and believes that if you can help someone, help them.

In a band session he focuses on building culture, teamwork, cooperation, communication and teaches skills such as ensemble, tempo, rhythm, and bass as a backbone to building a successful band.

New Zealand-born Zech Walters is a member of Woodlock, a band of brothers with an international profile with over a decade of national touring and headline international tours through the Philippines, China, and Canada. His music is featured in advertising with international companies such as NRMA insurance, Disney+ network, Nintendo, Baeyer pharmaceutical company, and Vodaphone.
